Approaching Council

How to approach Town Council with issues or concerns

Providing Council with issues as information only

If you have an issue you would like to present to Town Council as information, please submit it in writing, addressed to Town Council:

  • Mail: 4705 – 49th Avenue, Athabasca, Alberta, T9S 1B7
  • Fax: (780) 675-4242
  • Email: town@athabasca.ca

Providing Council with issues to be formally addressed

If you have an issue you would like Council to respond to formally, submit it in writing to the attention of Town Council by noon the Thursday before a regular council meeting. Regular council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.

If you require a decision of Council that is time sensitive, allow a minimum of two weeks for Council to deal with your request.

Presenting issues to Council in person at a council meeting

To make a physical presentation to Council at a council meeting, submit a summary of your presentation on a Council Presentation Form, include any relative documentation and any specific requests, by the above deadlines.

Plan to keep your presentation under fifteen minutes to respect the time of Town Council and other delegations. Following your presentation, Council may ask a few brief questions for clarification. Decisions regarding the issue will be dealt with later in the meeting under the appropriate agenda item. You will be advised of the result.

If you require further information regarding any of the above, please contact the Town Office at 780-675-2063.
