Welcome to the Town of Athabasca
A vibrant rural community in which to live, work and relax, the Town of Athabasca is nestled in the picturesque Athabasca River valley, just 150 km north of Edmonton on Highway 2. As the health, education, shopping, and service centre for the region, the Town of Athabasca and surrounding area offer something for just about everyone--nature lovers, cottagers, campers, fishermen, hunters, golf enthusiasts, history buffs, retirees, business entrepreneurs, and those seeking the pace of a small town and a rural lifestyle.
The Town of Athabasca has issued a complete fire ban effective immediately. The ban restricts all open fires including burn barrels, recreational fire pits, fireworks, and charcoal barbecues. Gas fired appliances are still permitted. Existing fire permits are hereby suspended and no new permits will be issued.
The Town of Athabasca urges everyone using an ATV to be mindful of debris collecting on the exhaust which could result in ignition of surface fuels (grass/stubble, etc.). Anyone who has conducted open burning during the winter is reminded to check their burn sites to sure they are completely extinguished.
The Town of Athabasca will be running this year's Canada Day Parade. Float registration forms are available by clicking here or visiting the Town Office.
